A Card and a Cupcake!

I made this card to give to a friend of mine, and although we don't usually exchange gifts I decided to make a cupcake to go with it. The image, from Bugaboo, is called 'JJ Tequila and Shoes - Birthday' and the sentiment is included in the download. I'm not sure what make the paper is as I've had it for ages, and although I'm not a fan of pink I do like the design, so decided it was time it got used. The image and card candy were coloured with ProMarkers and the pink ribbon was a piece I probably rescued from some item of clothing. I always cut those 'hanger loops' out of tops and dresses 'cos they just get in the way if left on and of course I can't just throw them away. Combined it with green, my favourite colour, and I'm happy with the finished card.

I've made a few 'Cupcakes' since first seeing them in Blogland and as this card has a cupcake theme it seemed like a good idea to do one to match. Most of the ones I've seen have been made with a face flannel or socks but I like to use a hair wrap - the sort you wrap around your hair after washing. Those made from Micro-fibre are best, not towelling which would be too bulky, as it is the finished Cupcake is still more like a 'Large Muffin' . The 'sugar coated cherry' is some sort of berry from my christmas decorations and I did make a matching gift box/bag but forgot to take a photo and it's too late now.

Another Funky Hand card for Alex

This is the other card that I made for my Baby Boy's 16th birthday last Sunday - this one was for his older brother to give to him.
It's DL, made by cutting down a sheet of A4 and I've used the same collection of papers (Jovial Man) and some more of the elements from this months freebie. It started with me trying to use up some of the papers that I'd already printed but they didn't look right for what I had in mind so, as usual, I had to print more. It's not my usual style but the 'text' wording seemed appropriate as the two of them do a lot of that. As for the sewing, I can sew straight but wanted it to be wonky, honest.

Now I did intend entering it in this months Get Funky challenge of 'Boys, Boys, Boys' because I saw that several people had entered more than once - but when I checked the rules it does state 'one entry only', and I wouldn't want to get disqualified so that one's out.

My baby boy is 16!

My younger son, Alex, was 16 yesterday (where did the last 16 years go) and has been playing a lot of golf recently, so instead of the usual cricket card he got one with a golf theme. He's got a great sense of humour so I wanted a funny image and after seeeing this one somewhere in Blogland I managed to track it down to 'Karens Doodles'. Fortunately it was a digital image and not a rubber stamp so it wasn't a problem that I was on the last minute as usual.
It's 20cms square and I've used Funky Hand DP's so that I can enter it into the current challenge at Get Funky which is Boys, Boys, Boys. The papers are a combination, some from the 'Jovial Man' collection on Colour Me Happy and the other from the latest freebie. ProMarkers were used for colouring the image and the flag was created to enable me to add his age.
I really like the finished card but after it was too late I had the idea to use a scorecard instead of one of the rectangles - well maybe next time.

Thursdays Challenge at Catch The Bug

I'm getting there .... finished off my card for Thursday's, Christmas In July, challenge at Catch The Bug, which is 'Any Project With Snow'. I don't know where I got this paper from but I've had it for ages so thought it was time to get cutting. The base card is A4 and made from dark grey 'Stardream', some red card from my stash for layering and the image was coloured with ProMarkers. A few snowballs were added as a finishing touch and attached with foam pads for extra dimension.

Well four down and just one to go - the Friday challenge is 'Anything Goes' - and due to the time difference I should be ok if I post my entry in the morning. Off to bed now!!

Wednesdays Challenge at Catch The Bug

The mini-challenge for Wednesday, in the Christmas in July week of challenges at Catch the Bug, has this sketch to follow.

This is my attempt at following the sketch. I've used another digi from Bugaboo with an A5 dark blue base card and created the paper for the background using the words of the song 'Little Donkey'. To add some colour and texture I decided to emboss the red card with a cuttlebug folder and in the absence of anything more suitable used a mesh design which reminds me of cobbles .. as in dusty road .. not sure they would have had cobbles in Bethlehem but I'm claiming 'artistic licence'. The image has been coloured with ProMarkers and finished with three gold stars.

I'm also entering this into the 'Christmas in July' challenge at I Love ProMarkers as it is Christmassy and I did use ProMarkers. Thanks for looking.

Tuesdays challenge at Catch The Bug

Playing catch-up at the moment as I'm attempting to join in with a week of Christmas in July challenges at Catch the Bug. This card was made for the Tuesday challenge - to make a card using this free image. All the papers are from the 'Tis The Season' collection by BoBunny; star brads, ribbon and tiny bells are from my stash and the image was coloured with ProMarkers before adding some gloss finish to the baubles. The shiny baubles look good in real life but don't show up well in the photo as I'm still getting to grips with my new camera and it's many different settings - should probably have waited until tomorrow to take the photos in natural light.

There are a few more challenges at the moment which call for christmas cards so I'm going to enter my creation into the following too:-

Creative Inspirations Challenge 64 - Xmas In July
CES Challenge # 45 - Christmas
Paper Sundaes Challenge # 78
- Christmas In July
The Crafty Pad Designs Challeng 130 - Christmas In July
I Love ProMarkers Challenge # 75 - Christmas in July

I need to get started on the Wednesday challenge now which is a sketch challenge so thanks for looking and any comments are much appreciated.

Bugaboo - Christmas in July

Bugaboo are hosting a week of challenges over on the Catch the Bug Challenge Blog. For Monday the challenge was to use 'Non Traditional Colours', which really was a challenge for me as I love red, green and gold for Christmas. There are so many wonderful images to choose from but I've gone with 'Snowman Bells' which I think was a Friday Freebie. I've used a white base card with lime green and turquoise, which is a combination that I like but not usually for Christmas.

The image was coloured with Promarkers in Lime Green and Sky Blue to match the card and ribbon which are from my stash. The embossing was done with 'Snowflakes' Cuttlebug folder and the sentiment created on the pc using Candy Buzz BTN font. Punched snowflakes and Card Candy add the finishing touches.
I'm also entering it in the Simon Says Stamp Challenge - 'Anything Goes' the Allsorts Challenge Blog, Week 112 - Free & Easy and the I Love ProMarkers challenge # 75 - Christmas in July.

Lynn x
