Tuesdays challenge at Catch The Bug

Playing catch-up at the moment as I'm attempting to join in with a week of Christmas in July challenges at Catch the Bug. This card was made for the Tuesday challenge - to make a card using this free image. All the papers are from the 'Tis The Season' collection by BoBunny; star brads, ribbon and tiny bells are from my stash and the image was coloured with ProMarkers before adding some gloss finish to the baubles. The shiny baubles look good in real life but don't show up well in the photo as I'm still getting to grips with my new camera and it's many different settings - should probably have waited until tomorrow to take the photos in natural light.

There are a few more challenges at the moment which call for christmas cards so I'm going to enter my creation into the following too:-

Creative Inspirations Challenge 64 - Xmas In July
CES Challenge # 45 - Christmas
Paper Sundaes Challenge # 78
- Christmas In July
The Crafty Pad Designs Challeng 130 - Christmas In July
I Love ProMarkers Challenge # 75 - Christmas in July

I need to get started on the Wednesday challenge now which is a sketch challenge so thanks for looking and any comments are much appreciated.

Bugaboo - Christmas in July

Bugaboo are hosting a week of challenges over on the Catch the Bug Challenge Blog. For Monday the challenge was to use 'Non Traditional Colours', which really was a challenge for me as I love red, green and gold for Christmas. There are so many wonderful images to choose from but I've gone with 'Snowman Bells' which I think was a Friday Freebie. I've used a white base card with lime green and turquoise, which is a combination that I like but not usually for Christmas.

The image was coloured with Promarkers in Lime Green and Sky Blue to match the card and ribbon which are from my stash. The embossing was done with 'Snowflakes' Cuttlebug folder and the sentiment created on the pc using Candy Buzz BTN font. Punched snowflakes and Card Candy add the finishing touches.
I'm also entering it in the Simon Says Stamp Challenge - 'Anything Goes' the Allsorts Challenge Blog, Week 112 - Free & Easy and the I Love ProMarkers challenge # 75 - Christmas in July.

21st Card for Chloe

I needed to make a21st birthday card for Chloe who has been doing teaching practice with us for the past few weeks. I used a Pink Petticoat image and some leftover pieces of green paper, also from Pink Petticoat, together with some silver mirror card and a length of white ribbon. I paper pieced the dress and bag then coloured the rest of the image with Promarkers. The circle and scalloped circle have both been cut with nesties and the edge of the border paper punched with a Fiskars Threading Water punch. I used the same green paper for the insert but forgot to take a photo of it.

I've found some challenges that it fits into so might as well give it a go.

Delightful Challenges - Anything Goes
Little Miss Muffet Challenge # 11 - Anything Goes
Southern Girls Challenge 21 - Anything Goes
Simon Says Stamp Challenge - Let's Play Bingo
(Bottom line - Shape, Ribbon & Sentiment)

Card for baby Jacob

The daughter of a good friend of ours has just had a baby boy so I wanted to make a personalised card. I recently made a baby boy card that I really liked, using Funky Hand papers, but in order to enter it into the Get Funky Challenge I had to include five flowers. As these were put in the position best suited to the baby's name a new card was needed. I've used the same layout but alternated the colours blue and green, added JACOB instead of flowers and tied a teddy charm to the bottom ribbon. The hood and wheels on the baby buggy have been raised up for extra dimension and the edges of the card layers inked to help them stand out. So that the letters stood out from the background I edged those too but I had to use a pen which was very fiddly and took ages - still it was worth it as I'm pleased with the finished result.

Hoppy Birthday!

I made this for my elder son's 22nd birthday. I love this stamp but it's the first time that I've used it - thought it would be ideal for Danny's birthday as it's not too cutesy for a male card but still fun and I thought he'd like the 'Hoppy Birthday' sentiment that I made. The papers are all from the Jovial Man collection on the Colour Me Happy CD by Funky Hand, and the image is a Penny Black stamp called Toadily Yours.

I'm not really happy with the colours on these photos but I had to take them indoors due to the weather, in real life the colours are much brighter. The base card is white A5 size and I printed the blue DP on the front then printed a sheet of paper the same colour to make the insert. The toads have been coloured to match with Promarkers then their heads and torsos (do toads have torsos?) raised up on foam pads for added dimension. The stars and letters have also been attatched with foam pads.

I'm entering this card in the following challenges:-

Penny Black Saturday Challenge ... Week 155 - ONE FOR THE GUYS
Penny Black at Allsorts June Challenge - Your My Favourite

Recipe challenge at Get Funky

This is my card for the latest challenge at Get Funky which is to follow a recipe -

Kathy's Funky Fifteenth: Master Chef Recipe!

5 Flowers
Use 3 different papers
2 Buttons
1 Ribbon (cut up or in one strip whatever you prefer)
and a sprinkling of Gems or pearls

I made this card when the challenge was first put up, but haven't been able to post sooner due to Blogger problems, chest infection, holiday, more Blogger problems and then last night when I tried to log on our internet connection was down due to maintenance work by BT. Still it's here now - I do like to enter this challenge because many of my cards are made with Funky Hand papers as I love the way that the different designs are available in many
colour combinations.

The three papers are from the 'Son Day' collection on the Funky Daze CD by Funky Hand - I really love this colour combination and find myself using these papers a lot. The image is from Pink Petticoat and the embossing done with a Cuttlebug folder. I've added the buttons and flowers to fit the recipe and some Glamour Dust for 'a sprinkling of gems'.

Thanks for looking.

Spots and Stripes for Get Funky

It's a long time since I updated this Blog, over six months in fact, but things happen which take over your life and make blogging seem unimportant. For me this was when my mum died quite suddenly at the beginning of November. She had been suffering from Alzheimers for a few years and was living in a nursing home. Physically she seemed strong but after a fall went downhill rapidly, although it was still a shock when we got the phone call.

I didn't make any cards for a while, but then when I did make some I couldn't be bothered putting them on here or entering any challenges. The longer it went on it became harder to get back into the habit although I did try to keep an eye on the blogs that I follow.

This week I needed to make a card for a new baby boy so chose some papers from Funky Hand, so that I could enter the latest challenge at Get Funky. But although I'm really pleased with the finished card it didn't fit the criteria, it's got spots but no stripes. So I printed a stripey paper from the same collection - 'Son Day' from the Funky Daze CD and made another Baby Boy card. This one is 6" square and includes a Pink Petticoat image and ribbon from my stash.

Thanks for looking.
