12 Days of Christmas at Bugaboo - Day # 1

I'm playing catchup here as the Challenges at Bugaboo started on 1st December with "Use a tree on your card". The images of Rudolph are some of my favourites so I've used 'Rudolph with Tree'.

The Pink Petticoat sentiment was printed first then small squares of paper from a DCWV multi stack were used as a background. After colouring Rudolph with ProMarkers, I cut and shaped him before using glue gel to fix him in the foreground. It's a bit easier to see in the close-up below, how the image stands out.

To save myself having to add an insert, I printed another of the Pink Petticoat sentiments directly onto the inside.

Quite a quick, simple card really - once I'd decided on the design. I think the others will need to be quick and simple too if I'm going catch up as I've got 6 more to do and they'll be anouncing the theme for day 8 tomorrow (make that later today as it's already past midnight).

Traditional colours for 'Get Funky' challenge

There's a double challenge this time at Get Funky, to use traditional colours to make both a Christmas Project and a Non-Christmas Project.

I love the combination of red and green for Christmas and usually add gold, but for these two cards I've gone with accents of silver instead.

I decided to use the same papers and basic design for both, just changing certain elements to suit each one and I'm very happy with the finished cards.

The two green papers are from 'Funky Little Christmas' which is a downloadable collection from 'Funky Hand'. These have been cut into 4cm squares, edged with red ink, then the squares from the plainer of the papers have been embossed using Cuttlebug folders, Snowflake and Happy Birthday. The scalloped white base cards are 6" x 6" (15x15 cms) used with the fold at the top, letters have been cut using Sizzix 'Wingo Zingo' and Crystal Glamour Dust added for a bit of sparkle.


CHRISTMAS CARD

The image is 'Milly singing carols' from DigiStamp Boutique, coloured with Promarkers, shaped and layered with glue gel for added dimension then mounted on a red scalloped circle. The snowflakes were punched out of silver card and glittery vellum with a few crystal gems added to the vellum ones.


BIRTHDAY CARD

The stamps used for this are from a set I got free with a Docrafts magazine some time ago. Again coloured with Promarkers, then shaped and attached with glue gel, but this time in a square shape mounted on red card with all the corners rounded off. Small punched flowers and a couple of crystal gems were added and for a quirky finish I replaced the letter 'A' with another cake.

Get Funky Autumn Greetings

On the last minute again with my entry for the October challenge at 'Get Funky', which is AUTUMN.

We managed to get away for some late sunshine at half term and flew off to Fuerteventura. It bugs me how the prices go up during school/college holidays but as I work in a school and my younger son is at college, we have no choice. Then Danny (finished at university but unable to find a job) decided that he might as well come with us as he had nothing better to do, so it was 4 adults at inflated prices. Still it was nice to spend time together as a family.

Now back on the 'treadmill' of school life I've not had much time for crafting, well not card making anyway, as I'm in the middle of making curtains and a Roman Blind for the Living Room. The curtains aren't a problem but I'm beginning to think that the Roman Blind wasn't such a good idea as its size makes it difficult to manage. It's for 10 ft wide patio doors that are almost the full height of the room so I'm spending a lot of time on my knees as the floor is the only surface big enough to work on.

I'd been thinking of taking a break from sewing to make an Autumn card but couldn't decide on a layout when the idea for this clean and simple design popped into my head, so I went online to find a suitable short poem and got to work.

The base card is smooth white 6"x6", text printed in brown and all papers are from the Orange October collection on Craft the Year Away. The leaves were hand cut then the edges were inked before attaching with foam pads for added dimension.

First Teddy Bo card

Well to be more precise it's actually Teddy Bea. I bought some Teddy Bo images a few months ago and although I printed some of them right away, I wasn't sure how to go about colouring them so they got left and then buried under other stuff.

When they surfaced yesterday (gasping for breath) I decided to go for it and use one to make a card for the current challenge at Teddy Bo and Co which is 'My Favourite Colour', so green it had to be.

A lot of people seem to use pencils for these cute bears - Prismas in fact - but as I don't have any Prismas and not wanting to use watercolour pencils in case the water made the ink run, I decided to have a go with Promarkers.

My first attempt went in the bin as I wasn't happy with the shading - to be honest I'm not totally happy with this one either but it's an improvement on the first and does look better in real life.

The layout was done to fit a sketch challenge at Clean & Simple Stamping, but although I don't go in for really fussy layouts, I think this is perhaps a bit too clean and simple. I'll probably add a few buttons or brads to this card before sending it to someone.

The white base card is A5 size and the patterned paper is from a free digital kit by Summer Driggs called 'Limeade'. I've also used some dark grey pearlecent card for matting and a small piece of lime green ribbon to finish.

Bear-Day Wishes!

Unusual for me but no stamping or colouring on this card. I was asked to make a 1st birthday card for a little girl who likes teddy bears, so I created this bear using punched circles and a bit of black card cut into a nose shape. I can't take credit for coming up with the idea as I seem to remember seeing something similar to this years ago.

This card will have to be my entry to the current challenge at Get Funky, which just happens to be 'Birthday Fun', as I'm running out of time. Due to having an upgrade on our PC a few weeks ago, my Papercraft Factory CD Roms need to be re-installed, but I can't quite remember where they are - this Blog isn't called CRAFTY CHAOS for nothing.

The white base card is A5 size and I've used Funky Hand papers leftover from a previous project - I think they are from the February Love collection on Craft The Year Away. The silver, glittery number and circles are from a sheet of card die-cuts that I had hanging around and the sentiment was created on the PC. The bear and his birthday sign are attached with foam pads for a little dimension (not sure if this shows up in the photos) and for a finishing touch I punched a few small flowers to go around the number 1.

Best Friends - Have Fun

It was my friend's birthday last Saturday and as we were going to a papercrafts show together on the Sunday I used a Penny Black stamp, called The Sensations, to make her card.

I stamped the image, coloured it with Promarkers, then cut off the Sheep (so that the image represented the two of us) before I layered it onto the card. The animals were shaped and extra layers added in some areas to add dimension - not sure how she felt about being represented by a Pig - probably thought I was being a bit of a Cow. She had to be the Pig because it's wearing a necklace and I had made her one for her birthday, using the beads and ribbon that I bought at the same show last year.

The card base is approximately 8" x 8" and all the papers used were from a digital kit by Zoe Pearn called Indian Summer. The 3 flowers were punched and shaped then the centres filled with Liquid Pearls sprinkled with Glamour Dust, and Liquid Pearls was also used to add dimension to the pig's necklace. A button with sparkly ribbon was added to the top corner for extra bling.

FORE ......

..... ANOTHER GOLF CARD!

I was asked to make a 60th card with a golf theme, by a friend of mine, and considered a funny one similar to this card that I made for my son recently. But as I didn't know anything about the recipient I changed my mind and played it safe with a more serious 'golfer'. The result is a variation on this card that I made early last year. The stamp is from 'GOLF Sports Collection' by Craft UK, coloured with ProMarkers, and the papers are from Funky Hand. For the golf ball I used the 'Dot Matrix' embossing folder by Sizzix and to echo it's shape trimmed the top right hand corner of the card.
