Shaped card for Get Funky Challenge - May

At last my card for the latest challenge at Get Funky, which is to make a shaped card. I was beginning to think that my efforts would be in vain as we have had no internet connection for a couple of weeks so I couldn't upload it. We had been having problems connecting to the internet because the 'hub' kept re-setting itself. It would start to load a page then all the lights would go out, then all start to flash and before making a connection the lights would go out again. What a pain - my husband and son kept saying that they would sort it out but after much faffing about getting nowhere I took things into my own hands and rang the BT help desk. After about two hours of pressing this and that, crawling under the desk to unplug various wires and a lot of hanging on while he spoke to his colleagues, he agreed that the hub was faulty and arranged for us to be sent a new one. Hubby was surprised when I told him what I had done and very impressed when the new hub arrived within two days.
So onto my card ... it's based on a template that I downloaded ages ago from somewhere, made bigger and reshaped a little. The papers are from the Son Day collection on 'Funky Daze' but the motif on the front is a re-sized sentiment from 'Now that's Funky'. Because this printed in black I decided to add a black dotted line around the scalloped edging (created with Nesties) to tie it in ... not sure whether I liked it better before but it's too late now.

Bikini Card

Whilst checking out the latest Get Funky Challenge, I came across a card by Ruth that reminded me of a template that I had had for sometime and never used. I was inspired to make this card but for obvious reasons I won't be entering it for the Challenge even though I have used a Funky Hand DP. I 'm in the process of creating another 'Shaped Card' to enter into the May Challenge but it isn't finished yet as I'm still trawling through my CDRoms for just the right paper ... it could take a considerable time ... still I've got until the end of the month.

Penny Black Saturday...Week 99

This wallet card was made for a monthly swap that I take part in and the recipient should have received it by now. As it includes a Penny Black image and punching I am entering it into this weeks Penny Black Saturday Challenge which is 'LET'S GET PUNCHY'. I have used punches for the flowers and butterflies and a Papermania paper pack that I got in a Docrafts Goody Bag. Whilst trying to decide what papers to use ... print some or use up some of my stash ... I came across a Goody Bag that I had completely forgotten about. Can't remember when I got it but it has some wonderful stuff in it and I love the colour combination so I chose three of the papers and a piece of matching card from my stash. The main flower was stamped on one of the papers then the petals cut out ... very fiddly ...and stuck onto the image for a 3D effect, the rest of the image was coloured with Sakura Stardust pens. I hope that its new owner likes it as much as I do.

Birthday card for Jane

I was up late last night getting this card made for a friend at work whose birthday is today. She likes green, which is also my favourite colour so I decided to use these papers from MME which are in shades of green and orange. This Penny Black stamp is one of my favourites too and must be the stamp that I have used more than any other. The flower heads have been shaped then attached with Pinflair glue gel and finished with a sprinkling of Glamour Dust.

Passion for ProMarkers week 47

The challenge last week at Passion for ProMarkers is to 'create your background using only your promarkers' so I decided to have a go. I've used ProMarkers to create my checkered design, colour the image and the other layers too. The image was on a sheet bought at a craft fair recently but doesn't show who it was created by, and the rest of the card was created with just smooth white cardstock coloured with ProMarkers and a sentiment created on the pc. Thought I wasn't going to get this entry in when I realised that my son had borrowed our camera. He brought it back last night but then it slipped my mind that the challenge ended today at 9 am so here I am at the last minute (well almost) hoping that I've made it in time.

Baby Girl

A quick baby card that I made today for a friends daughter who has just had a baby girl. I had made another card but decided at the last minute that I didn't like it so this one was put together in a few minutes. I was really pleased with the simplicity of it, and the soft delicate colours, but the photo doesn't do it justice. In real life it looks so much nicer but it's gone now so no chance to take another photo. The background is from a pad of 'Baby' papers by HOTP that I have had for ages, and the focal image is actually an embroidered motif. The current challenge at Simon Says Stamp is 'A card for a child' so I'm going to enter it there and hope that it qualifies.

Gina's 60th Birthday

This is the card that I made for my husband's cousin who was 60 yesterday (Monday). I hadn't met her before yesterday when we went down to her home near Northampton. To cut a long story short ... hubby hadn't seen his 3 cousins for many years as they lost touch after his dad then their dad both died within a short time of each other, and the families lived many miles apart. Last year we made contact through Genes Reunited and were invited to Gina's 60th party yesterday. As we were on holiday in Austria last week and onlygot back late on Saturday I had to make the card in a hurry on Sunday. I had been told that she loved cats so used this image (I think it's Penny Black) that I got in a swap and Pink Petticoat digital papers that I had previously printed. On the way down I realised that I hadn't taken a photgraph of the card so had to do it on the back seat of the car, much to my son's amusement as he can't see why I need to take photographs of the cards that I make. I wasn't sure that it would turn out alright as we were moving at the time and I expected it to be blurred but it's ok ... modern technology eh.


The visit was a great success and we met several relatives for the first time and were made very welcome.
