Mothers Day card

For my card this year I decided to used my new Penny Black stamp so that I could enter the Penny Black Saturday Challenge week 92, which is to use 'Spring Colours'. I hope that my choice of Cream, Turquoise and Brown qualifies but maybe they're not too strict as I couldn't see a Penny Black image on last weeks winning card. I'm getting in early this week as I usually check out the challenge with the intention of entering, think that I have lots of time then find that Saturday has come around again and I haven't uploaded my card. This is my first 8" x 8" card and I've used several new purchases to make it. Nestabilities - Labels Eight, Penny Black - day dreams, Inkssentials Ink blending tool and Prima flowers. Once I had everything ready to assemble I decided to add ribbon to soften the effect of the muted colours and simple layout, then gems for a bit of bling (the one over the i in 'Special' is heart shaped but doesn't show up in the photo). I'm pleased with the finished card and Mum seemed to like it when I gave it to her. She lives in a nursing home now as she has Alzheimers and can't really remember anything (she does know me though - for now) but as she always used to choose cards for the verse more than the design I wanted a nice verse and these words seemed rather appropriate in the circumstances.

Birthday Beer!

With a husband and two sons, plus their friends, I often need a card with a male theme. As male cards are not what I would normally make if given a choice I decided it was time to get a few together to save the last minute rush/panic. This was made with a free image that I downloaded from Digi Stamp Boutique.

Summer Ice Cream ....

... that's the name of the paper collection, it's by Funky Hand from the Funky Seasons CD. It was one of the first ones that I bought and was probably my favourite until the latest one was released. This Card Wallet contains stamped images and was sent to a fellow crafter last week. Up to now she hasn't received it so it may have gone astray ... I do hope not.

Two Birthday Cards using Pink Petticoat papers.

Two quick cards for friends who had birthdays in January and I used papers from Pink Petticoat for both of them. I've been using Funky Hand papers a lot recently but for these I had a change and looked through my Pink Petticoat downloads. For the first I wanted something 'bathroomy' to go with the image ... not sure this paper was but I like the effect anyway. With the second card I was looking for two patterned papers in the same colour with white, which Pink Petticoat do so well.

Funky Hand paper again

After making my card for the Penny Black Challenge I had quite a bit of the two patterned papers left over, so I decided to make this card to use up some of them. However, I felt that it would need three different papers to look balanced so I had to print another sheet from the same collection .... and now .... I have even more left over pieces, lol. I really do like this collection though, it's called 'Lush Lilac' and the photographs don't really do it justice as the colours are nicer in real life, the base card is a perfect match for the papers and the ribbon is actually white. The squares are 4cm and have been lightly inked around the edges with black.

Penny Black Saturday Challenge Week 85

The challenge this week at PBSC is 'Something Sweet'. I've often thought about entering one of these challenges, as I love Penny Black stamps, but this is the first time that I've actually done so. My first thoughts on 'Something Sweet' were to do with cake and chocolate ... but then I decided to go with sweet as in cute so I used this image of two hedgies hugging. The papers are from my recently purchased CDRom from Funky Hand called 'Dreams Come True'. This time the format has changed so that it is even easier to browse the different collections than it was with previous CD's.

Pink Petticoat meets Penny Black

I'm trying to remember to take photographs of all the cards I make so that I can upload them here as a record of my efforts ... for my own benefit even if no-one else drops by to see them. This one was commisioned by a friend, for a lady named Marian who was turning 80 in early December. As I was unable to give it to my friend personaly it was posted off to her by 1st class post in good time for the big day but failed to arrive so at the last moment she had to buy a basic card locally. I was dissapointed, to say the least, as I thought that even if it turned up after Christmas it would be usless unless my friend knew someone else named Marian who was celebrating her 80th birthday ... unlikely eh. Imagine my surprise when I got a call from my friend last week, to say that the card had now arrived and .... she had discovered that Marian's 80th birthday is not until next December .... maybe the PO knew that all along and held the card up on purpose, LOL.
